A short stroll turned into a 3-hour walk across Rome. I was on my Eat, Pray, Love trip. After parting ways with my partner, I spent a month in Italy. It seemed almost comical how often I would notice couples embracing, kissing, holding hands, laughing, and the list goes on. It felt like life was taunting me. Why was I noticing this so much? It seemed like it was in all caps, but yet I knew it wasn’t. I was hyperaware of what I had just lost. On this walk, I decided to embrace it. Why not try to find the beauty instead of painting these humans in love as darkness? I crossed a bridge and looked over to see two young people overlapped, gazing into each other's eyes. It was literally picturesque. I was in Italy for God's sake. It reminded me that everything is fleeting. This pain I was feeling wasn’t forever. The heart knows many lives and would heal. I smiled and watched them hold one another. I wish they could know the power their love had on me that day.
