I was in Mexico attending my best friend's wedding. We had a time! The next day, I felt a bit low and couldn’t pinpoint why. I remember looking around at one point, and everyone was coupled. Cuddling, laughing, embracing each other after we had all just celebrated this beautiful love. I was alone. I couldn’t stop harping on the negative side of my experience and how sad it was that I was at a destination wedding, with all of these partners celebrating love, and I had failed at it. As the sun set, I let the thoughts drift away and allowed myself to be more present. We watched as a group of horses walked across the levee and seemingly into the distance. As the sun left, I quietly reminded myself that their love is worth admiring, not comparing.
