Their Love, 2026

Acrylic, cyanotype on linen

I was in Mexico attending my best friends wedding. We had a time. It was the next day, I was feeling a bit low and couldn’t pin point the source. I remember looking around at one point and every one was coupled. Cuddling, laughing, embracing each other after we had all just celebrated this beautiful love. I was alone. I couldn’t stop harping on the negative side of my experience and how sad it was that I was at a destination wedding, with all of these partners celebrating love and I had failed at it. As the sun set, I let the thoughts drift away and allowed myself to be more present. We watched as a group of horses walk across the levee and seemingly into the distance. As the sun left I quietly reminded myself, their love is worth admiring not comparing.
