It was my last day in Mexico City and I decided to go on a solo walk through the city to calm my nerves. As I walked I tried to be more conscious of my surroundings in hopes to retain the day and all of its color. I felt almost a mystical pull to slow my pace and as I did, I noticed this adorable little girl tucked into this marble cove, sipping on her Coca-Cola. I turned and looked at her to almost be jolted into her world and as she looked me straight in the eyes, everything changed within seconds. Loud, piercing earthquake sirens caused everyone to run out of the buildings and pour into the streets. That quick moment between me and that little girl felt like the calm before a storm and I found deep meaning within that. I never saw her again and I often wonder if she finished her Coca-Cola.
